How cool would it be to have your senior pictures taken on a backdrop designed by you??? Now’s your chance! Enter the L. Severson Portrait “Deck our Walls” contest. From now until May 10th, we’ll be accepting art submissions from members of the Class of 2012. When our contest is over, our top 3 vote-getters will get to paint their backdrop design on our walls.
Rules…hmmm…let’s see…
1. You must be a Class of 2012 Senior
2. Your backdrop must have an abstract design with a MAX of 5 colors.
3. Design your backdrop on paper, then scan your design and email it to leah.severson@gmail.com by May 10th.
4. We’ll post all the entries on our Facebook Fan Page by May 13th.
5. Your family and friends “vote” for your design by “liking” it. The three entries with the largest number of “likes” will win an L. Severson Portrait Gift Certificate – and they’ll get to paint their winning backdrop designs on our studio walls.
Remember, you must be a member of the Class of 2012 to enter. And your design must be submitted by May 10th. Questions? Email Leah by clicking the contact button on our blog. Good luck!

It’s not every day that I get a maternity portrait session with 6 people in it. But Dana & Sean brought their four boys in for pregnancy portraits, as they anxiously await the birth of…drumroll please…a BABY SISTER!

Todd and I just wanted to share some exciting things happening with the Severson Family and L. Severson Portraits.
As many of you know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent treatment in 2009 and 2010. I’m delighted to say that my health now is good, and I’m so thankful. One of the things that weighed heavily on me throughout the experience was the fact that our family’s livelihood rested entirely on a business that would cease to operate if I was unable to participate in it.
That led us to make some changes in our personal and professional life. We decided that renting a commercial studio no longer made sense for us. We listed our home for sale, with plans to buy a new home with room to build our dream portrait studio.
This process of trying to sell our home and find a new one made us realize that we were interested in real estate from a business perspective. But we felt like there might be a better way to do it than through a traditional real estate agent.
From this personal experience a new business bloomed. I have since gotten my real estate license, and Todd will soon have his. Now, in addition to running L. Severson Portraits together, we are also helping people buy and sell homes, and save money in the process.
Our method of selling real estate is a little different than the traditional agent. When we assist someone in buying a new home, we will actually rebate a portion of our sales commission back to the buyer.
In addition, we feel it’s important to give back to our community. For every home we buy or sell, we’ll donate a portion of our commission to our client’s favorite charity.
To learn more about our unique approach to selling and buying real estate, please visit our website, www.SeversonGroup.com
Bottom line is, we love photographing you and your children and our portrait business will continue to prosper, but we are excited about the addition to our “line” of products!
Thanks for taking the time to read about what’s going on with us. Please call us if we can assist you with real estate – or photography!

I just can’t believe how fast twins Dane & Kellan are growing! Sitting up, scooting around and getting into a whole lotta trouble, I’m sure. Had a great time photographing these baby boys. Hope you enjoy their pictures!

Baby Caleb was just a few days old when his parents brought him in for his newborn portrait session. He slept through most of it, but did manage to open his big brown eyes once or twice.

So tiny, so cute, but a little cranky. Baby Stephen was not a big fan of having his newborn portraits taken. But eventually, he warmed up to me and I was able to get some pictures of his adorable little self.

Hmmmm…I’m having a little trouble committing to pickup hours this week. If you have pictures to be picked up, call me at the studio, 867-3723, or email me, leah.severson@gmail.com and I’ll make sure you get them. Thanks!

I just LOVE snow pictures, and so I was thrilled when there was some snow on the ground for Abbey’s senior portrait session. Of course, it was a little bit chilly, but we bundled up, took frequent warm-up breaks, and got some really awesome portraits of Abbey outdoors. To see more of our senior pictures, both indoors and outdoors, click here. To see Abbey’s senior picture slideshow, click below.
This will be the LAST WEEK in 2010 that the studio will be open for portrait pickups, so if your portraits are here and you want them before 2011, please stop by anytime during our pickup hours this week and get them. If you are unable to pick up your pictures this week, but you still want them for the holidays, please call Leah at 867-3723 to discuss alternate arrangements. THanks!

Hit the Westfield High School Baseball Field to photograph some of Andy’s Senior portrait session. And then he donned his Steeler jersey for a few shots. Gotta love a guy who’ll stand up for his Steelers in the middle of Colts country! Click the slideshow arrow below to see Andy’s Senior Picture music video.
