Carmel, IN Newborn Photographer
When Should I Schedule my Newborn Photography Session?
I recommend that you bring your newborn to my Carmel/Westfield photography studio within the first 2 weeks. During these early days, your baby will sleep a lot, which makes him easy to pose in those sweet, curly, tucked-up newborn poses. After about two weeks, newborns start to stretch out, and break out. I reserve four spots a week on my Westfield portrait studio schedule for newborn photography sessions. Call early to get reserve a newborn photography session for your baby. We will schedule a tentative newborn photography session date. Once your baby is born, you’ll call or email me to let me know, and if we need to, we’ll move the date of your newborn photography session to keep it as close as possible to that two-week window.
When is the Best Time to have Newborn Photographs Taken?
I like to photograph newborns at my Westfield portrait studio during the day. In the evening, new babies can be cranky and colicky, even in those first few days and weeks. If we are including siblings in your newborn photography session, it is important to consider older children’s naptimes if they’re still napping. We want to make sure everyone in your family is fresh, rested, and happy during your newborn photography session.
Photographing your Baby’s First Year
After your newborn photography session, the next important baby milestone most new parents like to capture is around four months. Your baby is not sitting up yet, but he is likely able to hold his head up when he’s laying on his belly and his face has changed dramatically from his newborn portrait session. This is a great time to capture some wonderful, wide-eyed sweet expressions.
One of my favorite ages to photograph babies is the sitter stage. That usually happens when your baby is between 6 and 8 months old.. Most babies at this stage are smiley, happy little people who haven’t started crying around strangers just yet. They’re generally on a good, predictable nap schedule, and are happy and pleasant when they’re awake. It’s a great time to photograph your baby naked and clothed. This baby photography session is also a great one to include older siblings in.
Cake Smash Photography | Carmel | Westfield
Last but not least is your baby’s first birthday portraits and cake smash session. This one can be a tricky one. Quite frequently babies this age are fearful of strangers and clingy with mom or dad. But usually with some coaxing I can get some beautiful, timeless pictures to commemorate your baby’s first birthday. Many parents will choose to add some cake smash portraits to their first birthday portrait session. It’s a fun way to record the milestone. If you want to include a cake-smash, just let me know when you call to make your appointment so I can help you plan your cake smash session.
