Tennessee’s Newborn Photoshoot in Indianapolis
Meet one of my favorite little newborn babies. This is sweet Tennessee. I had the pleasure of photographing his newborn photoshoot. He was simply perfect! I had such a fun time dressing him up in some of my favorite newborn rompers. Of course, I had to put at least one orange outfit on him in tribute to his name’s home team. I chatted recently with Tennessee’s mom about the early days of parenting her baby boy.
How did you come up with baby’s name?
My dad had passed in 2020 and I wanted to pay homage to him. My dad was from Tennessee, and his nickname up here when he moved to Indiana was Tennessee slim.
Anything about parenting a newborn that surprises you?
You can never prepare for what’s to come. Sometimes you just have to kind of give yourself grace and go with the flow. I’ve learned to just give myself grace and just to always trust my mommy’s intuition, my gut feeling.
What’s your favorite thing about being a new mom?
The hugs and cuddles. This intimate time I have with my son, the intimate bond. I just look at him and see a little bit of me just warms my heart every day.
What’s the hardest thing about being a new mom?
The hardest thing is not over overthinking everything, overthinking every decision.
What’s the most useful baby products that you have?
I’m gonna say the sound machines. He loves it!
If you could give another expectant mother some advice, what would it be?
To not overthink everything. Just give yourself grace. And it’s also helpful to maybe do some group therapy with other mothers to kind of prepare for what’s to come. You have to take care of yourself first before baby, and the baby needs you more than anything. And it’s okay to cry a lot.
