FAQs about Maternity Photography | Indianapolis
When Should I Schedule My Maternity Photography Session?
You should schedule your maternity portrait session about when you’re about 34 weeks pregnant. That way your belly is nice and round but you’ll avoid some of the water weight gain that’s common during the last week’s of pregnancy. I recommend you call the studio when you’re about 30 weeks pregnant to reserve a spot on the schedule. That number is 317-867-3723.
What Should I Wear to My Maternity Photography Session?
I have photographed maternity clients in all stages of dress – from nude to fully clothed – so really anything goes here. You can wear a traditional maternity portrait gown, “sexy” it up with lingerie for a boudoir-style maternity photography session, or grab one of your husband’s button down shirts. There are so many options for clothing. When you call to schedule your maternity photography session, we’ll chat about the look and style you’re going for then figure out what clothing would be best to achieve that look.
Do You Provide Outfits for My Maternity Photography Session?
I do have maternity gowns, fabric wraps, and some other fun things that work well for maternity photography. You are welcome to view and choose from my closet or you are certainly welcome to bring your own outfits to your maternity photography session.
Will My Maternity Photographs be Taken Indoor Studio or Outdoors?
You have the option of choosing either in-studio, outdoor, or both for your maternity photography session with me. I have an indoor studio, complete with maternity boudoir set-up, and 4-acres of beautiful prairie grasses, woods, and flowers. When you call to schedule your maternity photography session we will chat about the look, style, and feel that you are trying to accomplish with your maternity portraits, then pick the set-up that will work best for you. Sometimes that means multiple sets-ups indoors and outdoors.
Should I Have My Hair & Makeup Professionally Styled for My Maternity Portrait Session?
Maternity photography is something you will only do a few times during your lifetime, so I strongly suggest you do everything to make your portrait session perfect. That includes having your hair and makeup professionally styled for your maternity photography session. I have hair and makeup stylists in the Indianapolis area that I can refer you to, or if you have someone you know and trust to do this for you, I certainly recommend taking the extra time and spending the extra money to have this done. It truly will make a world of difference for your maternity portraits.
Will You Edit My Maternity Portraits?
Absolutely! Every purchased image is beautifully retouched to make you look like the very best version of your pregnant self. I will soften wrinkles and stretch marks, remove scars and blemishes, and make sure you look beautiful.
How Long Have You Been Taking Maternity Photographs?
I have been taking maternity and newborn photographs in the Indianapolis area for nearly 20 years. I became interested in photography when I was pregnant with my first daughter, who’s in college now! That interest grew into a hobby, which grew into a business. I would be honored to document your journey into parenthood through my photographs.
