Carmel Senior Photography

It’s hard to believe but it’s time to talk senior portrait photography!   Now is the time for the Class of 2020 to schedule their senior portrait photography in Carmel.  Many seniors like to have their senior portraits taken in the Fall, but the majority will have them taken in the summer prior to their senior year, when there’s a bit more free time in the schedule and there’s a lot more color around.

Best Places for Senior Photography in Carmel, Indiana

There are lots of areas in Carmel where I like to photograph high school seniors.  Where’s the best place to photograph seniors in Carmel?  Here are a few of my favorites:

Carmel Arts & Design District | Carmel, Indiana

The Palladium | Carmel, IN

-Coxhall Gardens | Carmel, IN

-Village of West Clay | Carmel, Indiana

-Monon Park | Carmel, IN

Of course there are many more great senior photography spots all over Carmel, Indiana.  These are just a few of my favorites.  Carmel has so many trails and paths and wooded areas, it’s a great place for your senior portraits whether you’re looking for a woodsy, outdoor, natural setting, or something more contemporary like bricks, wrought iron, and architecture.

What to Wear for your Senior Portrait Session | Carmel, IN

You want to look like you for your senior photography session – but the very best version of you for sure.  I recommend bringing a variety of outfits to your senior portrait session, including casual, formal, and something in between.

It’s also great to include things in your senior photography session that are special to you, including pets, sports memorabilia, musical instruments, a letter jacket, etc.

Clothing with layers and pockets is great for your senior portrait session.  Pockets give you something to do with your hands, and layers just give your outfit more depth.  I also recommend you consider jewelry, sunglasses, scarves, hats, and other accessories for your senior portrait session.  Bring it all.  We can mix and match and play around with things!

How to Prepare for your Senior Portrait Session

-Consider having your hair and makeup professionally styled.  If you choose to do this, I recommend a run-through prior to your senior photography session so you are certain that you like the way you look.

-Do not get a haircut within two weeks of your senior portrait session.

-Do not schedule your senior portrait session right after a vacation where you’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun.  You don’t want to be burned and peeling in your pictures.

-Wear lots of hairspray.  The wind can throw your hair around when we are doing outdoor photography.

Reviews for Indianapolis Newborn Photographer Leah Severson

"Leah is an incredible photographer. Her photos really capture our newborn's personality, which we love. Will be repeat customers."

"WOWZA! I’m a Forever Fan. What a talented photographer and beautiful (inside and out) soul. Great images. Truly spectacular. A dream to work with again and again."

"Leah is phenomenal! Prior to our session we spoke about the details of what we wanted and didn’t want with our newborn photography session. I was so nervous our baby girl would be fussy and crying but she did great! The session itself was very relaxed and slow paced. Leah knew how to calm our little girl and keep her sleepy in order to catch the perfect shots. Leah has so many adorable newborn outfits and accessories to choose from so that is one less thing to worry about. My husband and I are very pleased with her work! Incredibly talented photographer!"

"Leah's work is amazing. I was nervous about my newborn waking up and crying during the process, but she has the magic touch as he slept through the entire process!"

"Leah is wonderful! She has such patience working with the babies and I am so happy with how wonderful and beautiful my daughter, Mabel, looked in her newborn photos. I will definitely stick with Leah for all of Mabel's photos in the future and she will watch her grow up through pictures. Leah has such a unique take and definitely stands out from others. I am so grateful for her talent and wonderful self."
