Baby Colt recently came to my Carmel, Indiana portrait studio for his newborn photoshoot, and he was such a joy to photograph. He has the sweetest little face and a whole lot of personality already. He was wide awake for part of his session, so I was able to capture some adorable shots with his eyes open. I love when babies stay awake for a bit—those alert expressions are just priceless.
We started the session with a soft blue wrap and a tiny knit bonnet. I posed Colt on a bed of gray fur, and he looked so peaceful and cozy. From there, I moved him into a brown wrap with a matching sleepy hat. I gently tucked him into a vintage wire egg basket for this setup. It gave the pictures a soft, timeless feel, and Colt looked absolutely perfect.
Next, I chose a rust-colored wrap with lots of texture. I placed him in a wicker basket and added a few warm touches to make the setup feel a little like fall. Even though we’re in the middle of summer, this color palette gave the portraits a cozy, seasonal look that I just love.
For another look, I dressed Colt in a simple brown romper and posed him on a tiny wicker baby bed. He looked like a little doll, all snuggled in and content. I finished his individual photos with an ivory wrap and placed him in a wicker basket. The soft, neutral tones brought out his sweet features and made the focus all about him.
We also took some family photos during his session. I captured a few mommy and me pictures, and you could feel how proud and in love his mom is. Then I posed him with his dad for some daddy and me shots. It’s always so special to watch parents look at their newborn baby with so much love and wonder. These moments are some of my favorites to photograph.
Colt’s session had a mix of soft wraps, natural textures, and sweet family moments. I’m so glad I had the chance to photograph him and his family. Whether he was sleeping soundly or looking right into my camera with those big eyes, Colt was absolutely adorable from start to finish. Thank you to his parents for trusting me to capture these early memories. I hope these pictures bring them joy for years to come.
