Meet Max — Carmel Newborn Photography
Max’s parents walked into my Carmel, Indiana newborn photography studio with one very important request — their son needed to be photographed in a Purdue hat. As a photographer who has seen a lot of session requests over 25 years, I can say with confidence that this one made everyone in the room smile immediately.
We knocked out the Purdue portraits first. Max wore the tiniest Boilermaker sleep hat and looked completely at home in it. Those photos are going on a wall somewhere in that house for a very long time. From there we moved into naked newborn portraits to capture just how small and perfect he was, curled up exactly the way newborns do.
Next up was a blue diaper cover on a fluffy blue fur blanket. That deep blue against his dark hair was a great combination. After that I dressed him in a handmade romper on a tiny baby bed, which gave those portraits a classic, timeless feel. Then came my personal favorite setup of his session — a green knit bear outfit with a bonnet with little bear ears tucked into a wicker basket. He slept through the whole thing without moving an inch.
We finished with a gray wrap and matching hat followed by a soft baby blue swaddle. Max was awake for a stretch early in the session, taking everything in with those dark curious eyes, then settled into a deep sleep that lasted the rest of the morning. That dark hair showed up beautifully in every single setup.
Thank you to Max’s family for bringing him in. Boiler Up, little guy.
